We pray for God to fill us with his Spirit

Generous God, we thank you for the power of your Holy Spirit.  We ask that we may be strengthened to serve you better. We pray especially for all frontline and key workers…  Lord, come to bless us and fill us with your Spirit.

We thank you for the wisdom of your Holy Spirit. We ask you to make us wise to understand your will. We pray especially for the leaders of the nations and all in positions of power… Lord, come to bless us and fill us with your Spirit.

We thank you for the peace of your Holy Spirit. We ask you to keep us confident of your love wherever you call us. We pray especially for victims of domestic abuse and national conflicts across the world that continue unabated…  Lord, come to bless us and fill us with your Spirit.

We thank you for the healing of your Holy Spirit. We ask you to bring reconciliation and wholeness where there is division, sickness and sorrow. We pray especially for all affected by Covid 19, all who are isolated and alone, all who are struggling in mind, body and spirit…  Lord, come to bless us and fill us with your Spirit.

We thank you for the gifts of your Holy Spirit.  We ask you to equip us for the work which you have given us. Lord, come to bless us and fill us with your Spirit.

We thank you for the fruit of your Holy Spirit. We ask you to reveal in our lives the love of Jesus. Lord, come to bless us and fill us with your Spirit.

We thank you for the breath of your Holy Spirit, given us by the risen Lord. We ask you to keep the whole Church, in the joy of eternal life. We pray for those for whom joy has disappeared, especially those who are grieving the loss of loved ones… Lord, come to bless us and fill us with your Spirit.

Generous God, you sent your Holy Spirit upon your Messiah at the river Jordan,

and upon the disciples in the upper room:

in your mercy fill us with your Spirit, hear our prayer, and make us one in heart and mind to serve you with joy for ever.  Amen

Letter from the Interim Minister

Dear Friends

This Sunday is the feast of Pentecost when we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the Church. It was an amazing day when 3000 people were filled with the Holy Spirit and believed in the name of Jesus. It was preceded by the disciples of Jesus constantly devoting themselves to prayer waiting on the promise of the Holy Spirit and that prayer was answered in an amazing way.

During the period between Ascension and Pentecost some of you, I hope many of you, will have been praying for five people to come to know Jesus. I want to urge you now to follow the example of the disciples and to carry on praying for them. Let us wait and pray expectantly and see what the Holy Spirit will accomplish.

Annual Meeting

We will be holding our Annual Parish Meeting (APM) and Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) next Sunday we will be electing new church wardens, new PCC members and new members of the Diocesan Synod.  Church wardens are elected annually and PCC and Diocesan Synod members are normally elected for a period of 3 years. I would encourage you to prayerfully consider whether God is calling you to stand for one of these positions.

If you are interested, or if you would like more information, please speak to Elaine Litherland or Alessandra.  If you wish to stand please complete a nomination form. These are available at the back of church.

God’s blessings, Alessandra

Kitchen – Electrical Safety

When the electrical work was carried out in church last year we were notified by the company that the socket in the kitchen can only safely handle one electrical item at a time.  For that reason, I have removed the second kettle and the extension from the kitchen so that we are not tempted to overload the socket by having 2 kettles on at the same time.  I would ask for your co-operation in this matter. Thank you Alessandra

St Peter’s Mothers’ Union Members

We have had an invitation from the PCC for our members to attend the

Induction of Rev Alessandra Di Chiara

on Tuesday 8th June at 7.30 pm in St Peter’s followed by refreshments.

We hope as many of you as possible will come along

to enjoy this celebratory occasion.
