Daily Prayer in the Easter Season

In joy and hope let us pray to the Father.

That our risen Saviour may fill us with the joy of his

glorious and life-giving resurrection …

we pray to the Father.

Hear our prayer.

That isolated and persecuted churches

may find fresh strength in the good news of Easter …

we pray to the Father.

Hear our prayer.

That God may grant us humility

to be subject to one another in Christian love …

we pray to the Father.

Hear our prayer.

That he may provide for those who lack food, work or shelter …

we pray to the Father.

Hear our prayer.

That by his power war and famine may cease through all the world …

we pray to the Father.

Hear our prayer.

That he may reveal the light of his presence to the sick,

the weak and the dying,

to heal, comfort and strengthen them …

we pray to the Father.

Hear our prayer.

That, according to his promises,

all who have died in the faith of the resurrection

may be raised on the last day …

we pray to the Father.

Hear our prayer.

That he may send the fire of the Holy Spirit upon his people,

so that we may bear faithful witness to his resurrection,

we pray to the Father.

Hear our prayer.

Heavenly Father,

you have delivered us from the power of darkness

and brought us into the kingdom of your Son:

grant that, as his death has recalled us to life,

so his continual presence in us may raise us to eternal joy;

through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Letter from the Interim Minister

Dear Friends

We give thanks to God that we have been given permission to resume public worship with effect from Monday 19th April. Our first worship service will be on Sunday 25th April at 11.00am we also hope to be able to have Choral Evensong in the evening.

Cleaning Party  – Thursday 22nd April, 10.00am

As you are all aware during lockdown we have had significant work carried out in the Sanctuary. The contractors anticipate that the work will be completed by the end of next week in time for our first worship service.  However, there will be a significant amount of dust and the chairs which have been placed out of the way at the back of church and the sanctuary pews will need to be put back in place.

Thelma will be going in to clean, however, we intend to assist her with a cleaning party on Thursday morning.  We will need to carry out a damp wipe of all fixtures and fittings, including the pulpit, screen and balcony. If you are able to come along and help in any way please let Elaine know.  If you can please bring either a bucket or bowl we can supply cloths and cleaning materials.

Wednesday Worship and Call in 4 Coffee

Wednesday worship will resume on Wednesday 28th April and we hope also to resume Call in 4 Coffee on that date.

I look forward to seeing you all next week.

God’s blessings, Alessandra

Thy Kingdom Come

From Ascension Day (13th May) to Pentecost (23rd May) we will be praying daily for people we know, or people who God lays on our hearts, to come to faith as part of the ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ global prayer movement.  This may seem like a very small thing yet over the last few years through this prayer initiative tens of thousands of people have come to faith.  Never underestimate the power of prayer!  Do start considering who the five people you wish to pray for maybe and I will be making sure that resources are available to help us in this journey of prayer and hope.

St Peter’s Mothers’ Union Members

The MU Festival is definitely taking place on Thursday 22nd April at 2.30pm in the Cathedral where four of our ladies will be presented with Long Service Certificates.  If you are attending please bring a copy of the MU prayer as there will be no service sheets.

The next MU meeting will be on Tuesday 4 May 2:00pm in the Parish Hall.

This will be our Annual General Meeting and we hope all members will try to attend as we need to discuss the future of MU at St Peter’s especially with regard to finding a new Branch Leader
